Located in Caxias do Sul (RS), Brazil, FOCA began its operations in 1997 manufacturing and selling turnstiles 4 arms. In 1999, the company added new products to its line of equipments offering turnstiles 3 arms for access control market. Once established as one of the main turnstile manufactured in Brazil, the company continued to expand its products line now offering step lifts for wheelchair users in order to meet the Brazilian laws and requirements about accessible vehicles for handcap people.

In 2013, The FOCA merged with the American Company called The Braun Corporation, world leader by manufacturing equipment for mobility, then holding 50% of share capital each one and becoming in fact FOCA BRAUN.

After the acquision, The Braun Corporation starts to provide technology to increase step lifts production for busses, once they have expertise in this field and Brazilian transportation law had changed into being mandatory the presence of equipments to assist handcap people in the urban transport zones. As the world leader in mobility with over 40 years of experience, The Braun Corporation has over 1,000 employees, all working to grow mobility across the world. The story of Braun begins with its founder, Ralph Braun. Diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and unable to walk by the age of 15, he became determined to find a better way to stay mobile over being pushed in a manual chair and carried in and out of vehicles.
